International. Carrier, a company belonging to Carrier Global Corporation, presented significant improvements in its heat pump technology designed for cold climates.
The company announced the update of the AHRI ratings of its Infinity Ultimate Cold Climate Heat Pump model with Greenspeed intelligence, after successfully completing the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Cold Climate Heat Pump Challenge.
According to the new figures, this heat pump achieves an efficiency of 21.2 SEER2, 13.5 EER2 and up to 10.5 HSPF2, which makes it – according to Carrier – the highest-rated unit within the DOE's cold weather program. The company had begun marketing this model in 2024.
One of the system's main advantages is its reliable performance in extreme temperatures: it operates efficiently down to -23°F (-30.5°C) and maintains 100% of its heating capacity at 0°F (-17.8°C). This reduces reliance on auxiliary heating systems, resulting in lower energy consumption and lower operating costs for users.
In addition to thermal performance, the equipment also stands out for its low noise level, with emissions from 55 decibels, positioning it among the quietest systems in the residential sector.
"The updated AHRI ratings reflect Carrier's commitment to innovation and excellence in HVAC technology," said Braden Cook, the company's senior director of Product Management, Training and Service. "This product not only meets industry standards, but exceeds them in efficiency, quiet operation and low-temperature performance."
The heat pump is part of Carrier's portfolio of energy efficiency solutions, at a time when the residential market demands increasingly sustainable equipment that is adaptable to variable weather conditions.
