United States. The organization announced the retirement of Jeff Littleton as executive vice president of the organization, a position he will leave at the beginning of 2027, after more than two decades leading the entity.
Littleton has served as the principal officer of ASHRAE's management team since 2004, during which time the association experienced sustained growth, global expansion and strengthened technical impact on the industry. Under his leadership, ASHRAE consolidated its position as a global leader in building technologies, sustainability, and the development of critical standards for the built environment.
The organization also highlighted Littleton's role during the COVID-19 pandemic, a stage in which it managed to maintain the operational continuity of the association in the midst of one of the most challenging economic and social periods in recent years.
"Jeff's leadership has played a central role in leading ASHRAE through decades of industry evolution, while furthering our global mission to serve humanity," said Bill McQuade, P.E., CDP, ASHRAE Fellow, LEED AP. "His consistent guidance and strategic vision have helped ensure that ASHRAE continues to be a trusted resource and leader in the building services industry. We are grateful for their work and for the solid foundation they leave for the future."
Among Littleton's key contributions, ASHRAE highlighted its focus on organizational alignment, strengthening collaboration between staff and volunteer leaders, as well as the continued push for the entity's technical and educational programs.
He was also a key figure in the process of selecting, renovating and moving ASHRAE's global headquarters to its net-zero energy building located in Peachtree Corners.
ASHRAE's Board of Directors reported that it has already formed a selection committee that will be in charge of leading the search for the organization's next executive vice president. The association noted that it will share more details about the leadership transition in the coming months.
