Mexico. The company warns of the importance of preventive maintenance to avoid failures and reduce energy consumption. Given the proximity of high temperatures, TRANE calls for preventive maintenance to air conditioning systems to ensure their efficiency and reliability during the hot season.
The recommendation comes after a 2024 marked by the most intense heat wave recorded in Mexico. According to the National Weather Service, extreme heat usually begins in late March and lasts until May, requiring HVAC systems to work hard to maintain comfortable spaces.
"The ideal time to perform maintenance service is at the end of winter," explains Ramiro Ucchino, Distributor Channel Sales Manager at TRANE. He added: "This practice ensures that the system is prepared to withstand the demand of the warmer months, minimizing interruptions and maximizing energy efficiency in the home."
According to the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (Conuee), about 30% of electricity consumption in the Mexican residential sector is allocated to thermal comfort in hot areas. A maintenance-free air conditioner loses efficiency, consumes more energy, and is at greater risk of failing at critical moments.
One of the most important aspects is the cleaning or replacement of air filters, since dirty filters obstruct the flow, force the system to work harder and increase energy consumption.
TRANE recommends including the following actions to ensure optimal system operation:
- Cleaning the outdoor unit: Remove leaves, dust, and debris, and clean condenser coils to allow for proper ventilation.
- Inspection of evaporator coils: Accumulated dust reduces efficiency and can affect indoor air quality.
- Chiller Level Check: Refrigerant levels should be checked by a certified technician to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Clear vents: Remove furniture, curtains, or objects that block the supply and return grilles.
- Controlled vegetation: Maintain at least 45 centimeters of free space around the outdoor unit.
- Benefits of Preventive Maintenance
Implementing a regular maintenance routine offers advantages such as:
- Increased energy efficiency: Reduce electricity consumption and generate savings on the bill.
- Longer equipment life: Prevents premature wear of components.
- Better indoor air quality: Cleaning filters and coils promotes the health of the occupants.
- Costly failure prevention: Detect minor problems before they become major breakdowns.
"Scheduling regular inspections with specialized technicians allows you to identify and solve possible inconveniences before they become major breakdowns, ensuring peace of mind and comfort for the whole family," concludes Ramiro Ucchino, from TRANE.
