Colombia. Mega Freeze is a new integrated center for the cold chain of pharmaceutical products developed by Solistica, a company of the Femsa group, which aims to bring logistics services to the pharmaceutical industry, so that the population in Colombia can count on medicines on time and in optimal conditions.
Mega Freeze added 10,500 m3 more space to the capacities, thus having more than 20,000 m3 of spaces fully certified by the Ministry of Health of Colombia and the National Institute of Drug and Food Surveillance (Invima). In addition, the center integrates the storage, conditioning and transport services of the cold chain in the same place, which streamlines the processes to give a faster solution to any emergency.
The center, located in the industrial zone of Montevideo and close to the Bogotá airport, operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and currently has more than 280 receivers, more than 3,600 pallet positions and 44,000 gels to supply more than 12,000 delivery points, with better response times.
Femsa ensures that the facilities comply with all standards in the handling of pharmaceutical products, which allow customers in this sector an integral control of their products, streamline the flow of their operations and maintain the entire cold chain in perfect temperature conditions, because throughout the service the appropriate temperature conditions from 2°C to 8°C can be controlled and validated, in the processes of storage, transport, conditioning, management of inputs and packaging.
An example of this is the service offered of marking, labeling, packaging, maquila and assembly of orders in temperature-controlled spaces to keep the cold chain of pharmaceutical products in perfect condition. Likewise, Solistica offers the transport service with a refrigerated and qualified fleet that allows to deliver the products on time and within the validity, keeping the temperatures within the safe ranges to avoid expirations.
