The SmartPlug Instant Hot Water Control, which also scored a victory in the plumbing category of the Innovation Awards, allows easy installation in existing domestic hot water recirculation pump systems, to more efficiently manage the delivery of hot water on demand.
Taco's 115-volt SmartPlug Instant Hot Water Control offers technology to learn and record a homeowner's hot water usage pattern and use the resulting data to operate a home's hot water recirculation pump precisely when hot water is required. While hot water recirculation pumps normally operate continuously or are controlled with an aquastat or timer, SmartPlug provides fully automatic and self-adjusting pump operation – only when hot water is desired. Usage patterns are monitored and recorded daily and weekly, with the SmartPlug system regularly updating data and adjusting for any changes in hot water usage patterns. The result is a significant increase in the operational efficiency of the water heater, promoting a simple but remarkable way to save on residential energy costs.
