The Novartis building, located in Bogotá, is one of the first sustainable buildings in this country, thus receiving the certificate of the Sustainable Construction Council of the United States for being a Leader in Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Design, -LEED, in English-.To obtain this certificate, Novartis took into account numerous aspects, such as the place of construction, use of recyclable materials indoors, prohibition of smoking in the surroundings, privileges for those who share the car or go to work by bicycle and the proximity of at least ten services such as banks or restaurants.
In addition, endemic plants grow on the roof, the bathrooms work with rainwater treated on a floor of the building, the lighting is mainly natural and complemented with saving bulbs, and even the height of the furniture was calculated to avoid visual pollution.
