Colombia. The new building of the Faculty of Engineering of the Eafit University in Medellín, is a new commitment of this educational institution for innovation and environmental social responsibility, where 13,500 million pesos were invested in the construction and the endowment with state-of-the-art equipment.One of the main features of this building is its "green" façade, that is to say that two of its sides do not have glass or walls, but a living structure around 15 meters high and 115 meters long, with exterior containers for planting plants that will become vines and cover the building. This façade will help the regulation of the climate within the different work areas, through a bioclimatic process that breaks the sun's rays.
The building also has rainwater collection and reuse systems, low-consumption electric lighting and air flows for the optimization of the use of air conditioning, and its construction was supported by the Ministry of National Education and the Territorial Development Finance, together with Rexco Tools S.A., Siemens, Cisco Systems and Hewlett Packard.
