Four electric car charging points installed in different areas of the city

The City Council of Santander and the company E.ON Spain have signed an agreement that includes the installation of electric car charging points at number 30 of Paseo de Pereda, the Candina polygon, Nueva Montaña and Avenida de García Lago, with parking spaces reserved only for vehicles of this type and in which parking is limited to four hours.

This measure is one of the initiatives that the City Council and the company are carrying out for the "impulse" of the use of electric vehicles in the city, in a joint bet that has made Santander one of the "most advanced" Spanish cities in terms of sustainable mobility, according to the Consistory.

Citizens can now make a contract at the commercial offices of E.ON del Paseo Pereda to be able to recharge their electric vehicles at these points. In addition, as a sign of the company's "commitment" to electric mobility, the first 200 euros of consumption during the first year of the contract will be free.

Likewise, the company already has electric cars for the workers who attend the maintenance service to travel through Santander.     ELECTRIC BICYCLES

On the other hand, the mayor of Santander, Íñigo de la Serna, and the general director of Regulated Markets of E.ON Spain, Javier Anzola, have delivered electric bicycles to Inmaculada Rodríguez and Marina Bolado, the winners of the "E-mobility" contest.

This competition took place last summer on the occasion of the launch of the electric mobility project, after the signing of the agreement between E.ON Spain and the City Council.

In collaboration with this company, which has chosen Santander as the "spearhead" to launch its electric car strategy in Spain, the City Council is carrying out a series of initiatives to promote the use of this non-polluting vehicle.

This initiative also includes the drafting of a guide, following the instructions of the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE), which includes the advantages of the use of these vehicles, such as access to circulate in restricted areas, loading and unloading schedules and reservation of public spaces for recharging fleets that provide essential services, such as health care or police.

Likewise, the City Council and E.ON will develop informative campaigns among citizens on the benefits of electric mobility in Santander.

The mayor explained that Santander's Sustainable Mobility Plan includes, within the action plans, the promotion of means of transport moved by non-polluting energies, such as electricity, so it is trying to extend its use in the city.

For several years, owners of electric and hybrid vehicles benefit from a 50% bonus on the payment of vehicle tax.

The mayor stressed that these vehicles improve the quality of life, since the city becomes a "cleaner and quieter" space; provide greater energy efficiency, contribute to reducing CO2 emissions. In addition, they reduce noise pollution and their materials are recyclable.

Another advantage offered by electric vehicles is that they represent an "important" economic saving, since an average diesel car consumes approximately 5.40 euros per 100 kilometers, a hybrid spends 4.5 euros per 100 kilometers and an electric one 1.65 euros per 100 kilometers. (EUROPA PRESS)
