Premiums for renewables touch 5,000 million in the first ten months of the year

Renewable energies received premiums worth 4,985 million euros in the first ten months of the year, according to Europa Press calculations based on the settlements of the special regime prepared monthly by the National Energy Commission (CNE).

This amount exceeds by 474 million the item until September, of 4,509 million euros. In total, the special regime, which in addition to renewables includes technologies such as cogeneration, attracted premiums, incentives and supplements worth 6,073 million in the first ten months of the year.

The body chaired by María Teresa Costa calculates that premiums to the special regime will amount to 6,787 million in 2010, which is 899 million more, or 15% more, than the 5,888 million initially planned. In addition, they will be 9% higher than the premiums to the special regime of 2009, of 6,215 million, of which 4,719 million euros corresponded to renewables.

In the month of October, in which the electricity production of September is liquidated, the special regime received 585 million, of which almost half, 260 million, were dedicated to photovoltaics, while 118 million corresponded to wind, 111 million to cogeneration and 19 million to biomass.

All these incentives are charged to the electricity tariff and have been subject to review by the Government, which finalizes a new regulation in which a cut in incentives is collected, especially to photovoltaics.

The kilowatt hour that receives the most aid is the photovoltaic, of 41.1 cents, followed by the thermoelectric, of 26.7 cents. Biomass exceeds 7 cents, compared to 4.9 cents for cogeneration and 4 cents for wind and hydro.

The special regime covered 27.1% of the electricity demanded during the month, thanks mainly to wind power, which contributed 10% of the total, ahead of 8.6% of cogeneration and 2.7% of photovoltaics. (EUROPA PRESS)
