Analyze characteristics of air conditioning running on natural gas

Brazil. The use of air conditioning systems running on natural gas can represent a reduction in electricity consumption between 91% and 99% among several other advantages. This was the main point of the Seminar on VRF transferred to Natural Gas, which was held days ago at the headquarters of Asbrav - Southern Brazilian Association of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Heating and Ventilation in Porto Alegre.

With lectures by experts in the field, the event demonstrated the concept and application of VRF-type air conditioning systems powered by natural gas. Issues such as the types of equipment available in Brazil, the appropriate applications for the system, the advantages and disadvantages of its use, energy efficiency, environmental impact, cost-effective implementation and return on investment were discussed.

The speakers explained that as well as lower energy consumption, air conditioning systems that run on natural gas allow the simultaneous production of hot water, low noise level, the acquisition of smaller power generators, the operation with ecological refrigerant, the low cost of operation and maintenance compared to conventional systems and less investment in electrical installations.

Professor and director of education and training Asbrav, Paul Otto Beyer, highlighted the growing use of this refrigeration technology around the world, replacing electricity. According to him, this is due to two advantages of the natural gas system.

- Publicidad -

The first is the exemption of the electricity system, since the use of natural gas generates less dependence on this sector, providing cost savings due to the reduction in demand, and likewise, to the absence of peak hourly rates for natural gas.

The other feature is that air conditioning for natural gas could be used for the production of heat and cold, according to heating, cooling or mixed needs.

    • Saludos, Fernando. Existen varias marcas reconocidas que tienen soluciones de aire acondicionado para gas natural. Sin embargo, no todos se comercializan en América Latina. Algunas marcas identificadas son LG, Daikin, Trane, Mitusbishi Electric, Rheem.
