Mexico. From may 1 to September 30, public service concessionaires who receive some kind of subsidy or government support must turn on the air conditioning in the vehicles, in accordance with the reform of the Transportation Law of the State of Sonora approved by the State Congress. The proponent of the reform, Eloísa Flores García, deputy of the National Action Party, PAN, commented that this initiative seeks to provide the minimum conditions of comfort for users due to the high temperatures that are registered in the town. "The use of air conditioning equipment is not a luxury, it is a need that must be provided to users of public service urban passenger transport," he said.
Some transporters have refused to turn on the air conditioner arguing that this increases operating expenses and that they do not have enough resources to do so.
