Frascold launches new ATEX-HT compressor series for high temperatures and low emissions

Italy. The new line is designed to operate with natural hydrocarbons and reach temperatures of up to 135°C, expanding sustainable options for heating and industrial processes.

In response to the global challenges of decarbonization and energy efficiency, the Italian firm Frascold presented its new series of semi-hermetic ATEX-HT compressors, capable of working with natural hydrocarbons such as propane (R290), butane and isobutane, and reaching fluid temperatures of up to 135 °C.

This launch reinforces Frascold's commitment to the climate goals driven by the European Green Deal and the REPowerEU plan, which promote the replacement of gas boilers with cleaner solutions such as high-temperature heat pumps. In this context, the ATEX-HT series represents an innovative choice for HVAC and heating applications in commercial and industrial buildings and even complex thermal processes.

Technology for a new generation of heat pumps

- Publicidad -

The new ATEX-HT series stands out for its flexibility, efficiency and reliability, thanks to a design optimized for the use of hydrocarbons. Their ability to operate in a range of up to 25% of their maximum power allows for better adaptation to part-load conditions, while their resistance to elevated temperatures makes these compressors key allies for demanding applications.

Key technological innovations include:

  • High-efficiency electric motors, with a choice of permanent magnet rotors for the S, V and Z models, for performance improvements of up to 6%.
  • Reinforced valve plates, capable of withstanding pressure differences of more than 30 bar.
  • Pistons with anti-friction treatment, designed to reduce wear and facilitate starts even after blackouts.
  • Oil with special additives, which improves miscibility with hydrocarbons and guarantees better lubrication and return to the compressor.

A range for diverse needs

The ATEX-HT series is available in four sizes with different piston and power configurations:

  • S: compact, with 4 pistons, displacements from 33 to 56 m³/h and power outputs from 5 to 15 kW.
  • V: four models, up to 93 m³/h and 24 kW.
  • Z: 6 pistons, up to 126 m³/h and 30 kW.
  • W: the most powerful, with 8 pistons, 206 m³/h and up to 52 kW.

Thanks to these features, the ATEX-HT series is emerging as a reliable and high-performance solution to be integrated into air-to-water and water-to-water heat pumps, as well as in sanitary, commercial and industrial process applications that demand energy efficiency and emission reduction.
