EcoVadis awarded platinum sustainability rating to Johnson Controls

Johnson Controls EcoVadis

International. Johnson Controls (JC) received a platinum sustainability rating late last year, EcoVadis' highest distinction, placing JC in the top 1% of the more than 100,000 companies evaluated globally for this distinction.

It is important, in light of this news, to explain that EcoVadis is a leading rating organization for the sustainability of supply chains. Its evaluation includes 21 sustainability criteria in four main themes: environment (1), labor and human rights (2), ethics (3) and sustainable procurement (4).

Renae Kezar, Vice President of Global Sustainability at Johnson Controls, commented on this recognition:

"The race to decarbonization is accelerating and Johnson Controls is leading the way in sustainability not only for our customers, but also in our own business practices. We have set ambitious environmental, social and governance commitments, science-based targets, as well as a Scope 1 and 2 net zero carbon commitments to support a healthy and more sustainable planet.

Therefore, for Kezar to be recognized as one of the best by EcoVadis "confirms that we are on the right track. Thank you to our employees around the world for ensuring we are leading the way in the sustainability space."

Johnson Controls' Commitment to Sustainability
According to an official statement from Johnson Controls, it was one of the first industrial companies to report emissions and promise emissions reductions.

"Tremendous progress has been made in reducing absolute carbon emissions by 38% since 2017, on track for a 55% reduction by 2030."

This company has committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions, Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the goal set out in the Paris Climate Agreement.

That's why the company manages its supply chain through a Sustainable Supplier Council, which means that all of its preferred suppliers have at least a bronze level score on EcoVadis and "weigh sustainability on par with quality, service and cost when rating their suppliers."

About EcoVadis
This organization has rated more than 100,000 companies worldwide. "Corporate sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and ISO 26000 standard."

Such ratings provide evidence-based analysis of performance and an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement.
