International. Intarcon already has numerous compact industrial equipment of the R290 superblock series in facilities throughout Spain and Latin America, providing high energy efficiency in large cold stores and work rooms.
The R290 superblock series is available in 4 models for high-temperature applications for refrigerated storage chambers, work rooms, pre-chambers and loading docks in a range of 24 to 62 kW of cooling power; 4 models for medium temperature applications for cold rooms for generic product preservation in a range of 17 to 45 kW of cooling power; 4 models for low temperature sized for storage chambers of frozen products in a range of 11 to 30 kW of cooling power.
The compact industrial refrigeration equipment is manufactured in galvanized steel structure and body with thermosetting polyester paint, they are designed for outdoor installation on the wall of the cold room, with easy maintenance access through folding panels.
The R290 superblock series features a highly reliable Semi-Hermetic Frascold compressor. These compressors are characterized by their great robustness and reliability of operation, and being cooled exclusively by the refrigerant gas, they allow an effective soundproofing.
Intarcon presents the advantages of refrigeration technology with R290:
• Energy efficiency. Thanks to the thermodynamic properties and high performance, its electricity consumption will be lower and therefore, there will be a reduction in electricity costs.
• Climate adaptability. R290 gas has been shown to adapt better to hot climates than HFCs.
• Performance. Its lower displacement compressors further increase efficiency in industrial equipment, although its performance in commercial equipment is also high.
• Wide range of application. R290 refrigerant is fully valid in both commercial and industrial equipment and systems.
• Good compatibility with other components.
• Reduced load of R290 refrigerant, with which the same performance as that of other refrigerants is obtained, with only 40%.
• Long-term ecological alternative. Although there is a regulation in force, it is a natural gas, which has been well received in the refrigerant market.
R290 load limit
The R290 superblock equipment contains a reduced load of flammable refrigerant, class A3. In accordance with the Regulation of Safety of Refrigeration Installations applicable in Spain (RD 552/2019) and the European standard EN 378, the superblock R290 equipment is suitable for industrial premises of restricted access, and must respect in each equipment the practical limit of refrigerant load of 8 g of R290 per m3 of volume of premises.
If necessary, to fractionate the refrigerant charge, the installation of multiple equipment in the same room can be planned. In case of exceeding the refrigerant load in an equipment, the designer must carry out the corresponding risk assessment study and adopt the appropriate protective measures. For example, a work room at 12 ºC of dimensions 10 m x 15 m x 4.5 m, with a volume of 675 m3, and refrigeration requirements of 24 kW, supports a maximum load per equipment of 5 kg. In this case, an ACH-KD-3 071 equipment can be selected, containing less than 4 kg of R290.
