Details on compressor inverter technology

International. Compressor manufacturer Nidec, which manufactures and markets Embraco products, highlighted the importance and gave details about the benefits and operation of inverter technology.

Variable speed compressors are different from conventional ones, mainly, by adjusting the rotation speed to the demand of the refrigerator, in other words, they work only as necessary.

This is made possible by the use of an inverter, which adjusts the speed of the compressor through a frequency signal, making the operation more efficient. When the caloric demand of the refrigerator is lower, the compressor works at minimum rotation, keeping the noise level and energy consumption very low. At times when internal temperatures are high, it operates with greater rotation, to reduce those temperatures as quickly as possible.

"The growing search for refrigeration systems with greater energy efficiency, less noise and that preserve food for longer is derived from the motivation we have in Embraco to provide more and better solutions that support the care of the environment, in addition to that, the reliability of compressors with inverter technology are also a differentiator for our customers and consumers", said David Ramirez, Application Engineer in Technical Support at Nidec Global Appliance and responsible for the Embraco product portfolio.

In the commercial market, lowering the temperature of products such as soft drinks and beers is very important – since the hot product is not sold – the variable speed compressor can exceed the speed of a conventional one reaching up to 4500 rpm and cooling the products in less time.

Main benefits of a compressor with inverter technology: Energy efficiency
Based on this technology, variable speed compressors have an advantage over fixed speed models (on-off) of up to 40% energy savings, contributing to the equipment that uses it to reach the levels of energy efficiency required by the most rigid legislations.

In addition to the benefit in terms of energy efficiency for the care of the environment, an inverter compressor presents other important advantages for manufacturers:

• Low noise level: A compressor that works at low rpm is a compressor that generates less noise, a very important quality for the domestic market

• More robust compressors: Inverters have greater tolerance to voltage variations in the electrical network.

• Less temperature variation: By having variable speed, these compressors are able to deliver only the capacity required by the refrigerator, allowing to reduce the variation of the internal temperature (neither too cold nor too hot). Equipment with less temperature variation helps preserve food longer.

The FMFT compressor is one of the different Embraco models that works with variable speed technology and presents the highest energy efficiency on the market in its category. This model allows to cover most of the needs of the main manufacturers of light commercial refrigeration in R290, the demand for small equipment from one door to those that have three, in medium and low temperature application, which allows to work with soft drinks, dairy and beers, since each of these items, it works with different temperatures to be preserved, respecting the indications of the producer.
