Carrier includes new technology to its Weather series package heat pumps

United States. Carrier announced that its EcoBlue technology is now available in its Weather Series package roof heat pump units. These products join those of gas and electricity heating already available with EcoBlue technology.

EcoBlue technology is now available on WeatherMaster 50GCQ models from 3 to 5 tons and can achieve a SEER rating of up to 16.2. This technology is also available on WeatherMaker 50FCQ models from 3 to 6 tons. In models ranging from 3 to 5 tons, these units achieve SEER ratings of up to 14.3 and the 6-ton model achieves an IEER rating of up to 15.0. These new units will replace the current Weather Series heat pump offerings and provide customers with the features and benefits of the EcoBlue technology found in the other Weather Series roof units, as well as an increase in the efficiency ratings of previous equivalent offerings.

A notable feature of EcoBlue technology is the unique beltless direct drive vane axial fan system, an industry first for roof units when introduced in 2018. This patented technology replaces traditional belts and pulleys with a simpler and more compact design, all with 75% fewer moving parts. The high-density composite vane fan of the outdoor fan system is also an exclusive design. Both fans are dynamically balanced for quieter operation.

Other technological advancements that differentiate these units include a new control board and coil technology that uses a proven round tube, plate fin designs, increased factory options, and a tool-free filter access door.

"We are excited to introduce the addition of EcoBlue technology into our Weather Series ceiling heat pump units, and we are confident that our customers will appreciate this new offering," said J.B. Spillane, managing director, North American light commercial HVAC, Carrier.

These are the first commercial ceiling heat pumps to offer optional SystemVuTM control, which provides the benefits of a large text display, fast LED status, and smarter diagnostics by providing continuous, real-time information to help ensure efficient operation and optimal unit performance.

Weather Series roof heat pump units with EcoBlue technology are equally suitable for new construction or replacement applications where comfort, performance, high efficiency and reliability are essential.
