Fujitsu General Ltd. has created a portable neck air conditioning unit that is not only sleek, lightweight, high-performance and well-designed, but also, in versions now under development, will comprise biometric detection, monitoring and communication features. The name of the device is "Comfortable gear".
Initially intended for direct sales, the Comfortable gear, which uses ventilation, water cooling and Peltier elements to reduce the user's temperature, will be provided to companies where employees work in the sun or in environments where air conditioning is not available, such as the security industry, the construction industry, factories and event venues. Fujitsu General will begin direct sales to the business in June 2020, and then expand its wearables division to enable full commercialization.
Characteristics
- Efficiently reduces core body temperature by cooling blood flowing through the carotid artery
- Thin and light construction: neck (cooling part) and waist element (radiator and battery)
- The cooling effect is maintained even at temperatures above 35 C (95 F).
Fujitsu is currently developing additional features for the team:
- Switch to heating function
- Controllable from a smartphone (via a custom app)
- Detection of vital signs.
