Carrier and ecobee join forces in the development of smart thermostats

International. Carrier announced that it has been working with ecobee, the developer of a Wi-Fi smart thermostat, to offer co-branded versions of ecobee3 lite Pro and ecobee SmartThermostat Pro with voice (image) control.

These thermostats will offer homeowners a new way to experience personalized comfort and greater energy savings at home.

ecobee Powered by Carrier smart thermostats can be connected to the Carrier Connected portal, allowing contractors to diagnose and troubleshoot system problems and errors remotely. Contractors will have access to advanced system data, including system runtime, configuration, and alerts, allowing service providers to provide excellent support to owners with minimal effort.

"We are pleased to be working with ecobee to offer our customers the latest in smart thermostat technology," said Jason Thomas, associate director of residential product marketing at Carrier. "Carrier's ecobee thermostats will provide our customers with the simple, intuitive and complete system control they want, backed by ecobee's expertise and legacy of innovation they expect from Carrier."

Easy to install and use, homeowners can control these Wi-Fi-connected thermostats via the intuitive ecobee mobile app, available on Android and iOS, and feel at home anywhere. The ecoTee SmartThermostat with voice control even features Built-in Amazon Alexa, so owners can use their voice to control the temperature or connect to other Alexa-enabled devices. The voice-controlled SmartThermostat ecobee also includes a SmartSensor ecobee in the box. The SmartSensor measures temperature and occupancy in the rooms that matter most and helps manage the age-old problem of hot spots or cold spots in the home.

"Our collaboration with Carrier will provide homeowners with an easy entry into smart homes and contractors, an exciting new way to provide great service," Derrick Boyce, vice president of sales, ecobee. "We are excited to work with an industry leader like Carrier who shares our commitment to providing innovative, world-class solutions for the customer." Thermostats are ENERGY STAR certified and can save customers up to 23% annually on heating and cooling costs.

These controls also have compatibility with most residential HVAC systems, including gas, oil, electricity, and dual-fuel systems. The ecobee SmartThermostat supports most air quality accessories, such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, fans, heat recovery (HRV) fans, or energy recovery (ERV) fans.
