Carel updates one of its ranges of controls

International. Carel announced a new update to its range of pCO programmable controls for application management and HVAC/R systems, which has been expanded with pCO5+ HS (High Speed): efficiency in HVAC/R systems now with faster response.

The new pCO5+ HS ensures improved performance in both application times (start and cycle) and refresh rate. This improved controller performance also means faster configuration of the unit. When field commissioning is carried out, system management is also faster.

The serial integration of the USB port further simplifies maintenance: files recorded on the computer can be easily and quickly copied to a USB drive or PC, for detailed analysis.

In addition, the calculation speed of the pCO5+ HS also means that it can respond more quickly and accurately to variations in the input values in the main unit (temperature, pressure, humidity, etc.).

Connectivity
pCO5+ HS comes equipped with two integrated serial interfaces, two expansion slots and two USB ports. The controller also has a wide range of optional cards to manage the most commonly used communication protocols in HVAC/R (Modbus, Carel, BACnet, LonWorks, KNX, HTTP, SNMP). You can also implement communication with CAREL apps using 1tool.

Energy saving
pCO5+ HS is available in a version with two integrated drivers for electronic expansion valves and an optional Ultracap module, for integrated energy saving management.
This also takes advantage of the pCO platform in terms of energy efficiency: possibility to connect two devices such as electronic valve drivers, power+ to manage DC compressors, integration with the CAREL IoT portal for predictive diagnostics and maintenance and for machine learning optimization logic.

Backward compatibility
pCO5+ HS is fully compatible with the full range of pCO3 and pCO5 controls, both in terms of hardware and software, to protect and guarantee the investments made by CAREL customers. In addition, the CAREL software (1tool, pCOManager, SmartKey Programmer) can be used to download the binary files on the new pCO5+ HS.

Applications
The pCO5+ HS is suitable for applications such as:
• Chillers (with screw or centrifugal compressors).
• Process chillers (where it is important to ensure constant temperature and humidity).
• Data processing centers.
