United States. LG Electronics was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the 2019 Energy Star Partner of the Year award, for protecting the environment through energy-saving appliances and consumer electronics.

LG is helping American consumers make a difference with products that offer energy savings to help save money and the planet without sacrificing performance or style."
The 2019 award recognizes LG's key achievements in 2018:
- Energy Star-certified LG products were purchased at a rate of 1,273 per hour in 2018, accounting for more than $2.5 billion in sales.
- Nearly three-quarters of LG product models in various categories were certified by Energy Star. The number of LG Energy Star models increased in 2018 by 31 percent for room air conditioners and by 14 percent for refrigerators and computers.
- Reaching a new generation of more than 8,000 influencers, LG highlighted Energy Star at the 2018 Bonnaroo Music and Art Festival and partnered with nonprofits in Middle Tennessee on renewing Energy Star's efficiency.
- LG won the 2018 Energy Star Emerging Technology Award for innovative variable speed compressors with inverter in room air conditioners, offering efficiency improvements of up to 40 percent.
"Their innovation and leadership enhance America's economic competitiveness," said Bill Wehrum, EPA's Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. "Reducing costly energy waste improves air quality and public health while protecting the environment."
The Energy Star Partner of the Year Award - Sustained Excellence is Energy Star's top award, presented to partners who have already received Energy Star Partner of the Year recognition for a minimum of two consecutive years and have passed the criteria necessary to qualify for recognition.
