New headquarters of the Colombian Council of Sustainable Construction seeks LEED certification

Colombia. As of August 1, 2017, the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction (CCCS) has a new headquarters in Bogotá. The entity assures that with this new project, the result of a collaborative work with its members, it will improve the offer of its programs and services.

The CCCS office envisages the following strategies:

  • Energy savings with respect to the baseline of ASHRAE 90.1 2010 through efficient distribution of LED luminaires and associated controls, Energy Star equipment and appliances, and mechanical ventilation 100% outdoor air distributed by the elevated technical floor, and without air conditioning.
  • Measurement of energy consumption, which will allow the management of them over time.
  • Water saving through high efficiency taps and WaterSense sanitary.
  • Optimal comfort conditions for the occupants through the use of natural lighting, open spaces with visuals and biophilia.
  • Quality and avant-garde furniture, with solutions such as height-adjustable tables that promote physical activity.
  • Use of materials with low or no volatile organic component (VOC) content such as paints, adhesives and sealants, carpets and flooring; materials of recyclable origin and it was privileged to specify those with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD).
  • Implementation of a waste management plan during construction for the diversion of as much recyclable waste as possible and an air quality plan during construction.
  • Strategic location with safe pedestrian access and public transport.
  • Implementation of criteria for the operation phase, with sustainable purchasing policies and maintenance programs. Plans to promote alternative mobility.

The CCCS explains that the new office provides an environment of innovation, cooperation and well-being. It has an open area whose objective is to facilitate and encourage collaborative work and communication between areas, informal meeting spaces with the characteristics of familiarity, loyalty and teamwork. It also has two enclosed spaces: a boardroom and a silence room.

The installation of acoustic systems that contribute to reducing reverberation times and reducing the transfer of sound to adjacent spaces is highlighted. Likewise, it corresponds to the availability of several services in the sector and its advantages in terms of mobility in Bogotá.
