Colombia. One of the stores of the Latin American multinational, Falabella, located in the Centro Mayor shopping center south of Bogotá, received the US LEED environmental certification, which guarantees sustainable constructions worldwide, which was delivered for the first time to a project of this type in Colombia in the Retail category (commercial interiors). This certification was made possible thanks to the advice of Johnson Controls, which provides a system of products and services to optimize electricity consumption in the 8 thousand square meters of the warehouse, consuming 70% less water than a traditional building thanks to the use of high efficiency toilets and taps, as well as the collection and reuse of rainwater, as well as condensate water from air conditioning equipment, complementing the latter with natural and mechanical ventilation with cooling by refrigerant free of chlorofluorocarbons.
Among the systems installed by Johnson are the Metasys 5 building automation system, air conditioning package units, fire detection, CCTV and maintenance agreements. In addition, during the construction, an adequate management of solid waste was carried out and a plan was implemented, according to LEED guidelines, to improve air quality, thus avoiding respiratory diseases in workers.
