USA. McQyuay International has been awarded a contract, valued at approximately $15 million, for the supply of air conditioning equipment for the Freedom Tower building in New York City. Currently under construction on the same site of the World Trade Center that was destroyed in terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the 105-story Freedom Tower will be 1,776 feet (541 meters) high. The air conditioning system will be composed of units designed to order to meet the specified requirements of the project, including HFC-410A refrigerant without any potential ozone wear or removal date and with low levels of operating sounds. High-efficiency, floor-level autonomous units are ideal for high-rise projects because they eliminate the need for large rooms for cooled water piping systems, and can be operated individually floor by floor.
"The contract is the culmination of a two-year effort in innovation, teamwork and dedication. McQuay is proud to have partnered with one of the most important buildings of the early twenty-first century," said Eric Roberts, Chief Operating Officer of McQuay Americas.
