Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables plans to place Catalonia at the "global technological forefront" in renewable energies, company sources have explained to Europa Press.
The energy multinational has been awarded, in alliance with Alstom Wind, three of the seven wind zones that the Generalitat has put out to tender. Specifically, the provisional award made public this Friday has given it 456 megawatts (MW) of the total 769.
Gas Natural plans to create wealth in the territories where it will establish its parks, strengthen the industrial fabric and promote technological development.
Likewise, he predicts that the awarded projects will allow Catalonia to be placed as an international benchmark with R&D&I initiatives and agreements with Catalan universities and public institutions.

Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables has been the company with the most megawatts awarded in the Generalitat's tender, followed by the Fersa-Aventalia alliance (153 MW), FCC (99 MW) and Comsa Emte-GERR (60).
In total, 20 companies submitted 57 bids totaling 5,707.3 MW, and proposed complementary investments worth more than 260 million.
Among the proposals that have been left out of the award are giants of the sector such as Iberdrola, which opted for 489 MW, as well as Enel Green Power and EDP Renováveis. (EUROPA PRESS)
