The Secretary of State for Energy, Pedro Marín, met today in New Delhi with the Indian Minister of Renewable Energy, Farooq Abdullah, in order to exchange experiences in "clean" energies within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both countries.
The meeting held in the Indian capital has served to exchange views on the different policies in renewable energies that can be carried out, acquiring an important nuance at a time when India has opted for these technologies to face the increase in its electricity demand.
During the meeting, Pedro Marín highlighted the experience and know-how of Spanish companies in the field of this type of energy, as well as in the electrification of isolated areas, something very important considering that currently 40% of the Indian population lacks electricity.
In order to be able to reach a collaboration agreement on these matters, on Wednesday, October 27, the first meeting of the working group formed by both delegations will take place, which will try to set a work schedule and identify priorities.
In accordance with Spain's commitment to this sector, the Secretary of State for Energy will also participate in the "Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference 2010", a conference in which world leaders of renewable energies and representatives of the main companies in the sector will be present.
