As part of the policies aimed at the conservation and preservation of the ozone layer, the Venezuelan Government, through the Industrial Reconversion Fund (Fondoin), has granted certificates of good refrigeration practices to more than six thousand technicians with experience in the field. The courses taught to technicians are held at the different headquarters of the Socialist Training and Education Institute (Inces), and are part of the national government's initiatives aimed at recovering the ozone layer, as well as guaranteeing quality of life for the population, said Henry Ortega, of the General Directorate of Environmental Quality of the Ministry of Popular Power for the Environment (Minamb).
He also stressed that Venezuela shows great progress in the implementation of the National Plan for the Elimination of the Consumption of Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), since in the country it was possible to reduce by 100% the use of this main substance that depletes the ozone layer. To continue with these policies, from 2011 the National Plan for the Elimination of Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) will be implemented in Venezuela, which will allow in a first stage to reduce the levels of production and consumption of this substance by 10%.
