Venezuela. The demand for electricity on Margarita Island (Venezuela ) decreased by 1.6 megawatts . This positive result is attributed to the seriousness with which the issue of consumption and savings on the island has been treated.An action that shows this is the replacement of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment of high consumption and the installation of saving bulbs, accompanied by a rigorous monitoring of compliance with the established standards, constant accompaniment and permanent advice on issues of rational use of energy, at the head of the National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec). This strategy is part of a program designed by the Ministry of Popular Power for Electric Power (MPPEE) called Operation Firefly II, whose implementation was carried out by the mayors and communal councils of the Venezuelan state of Nueva Esparta. According to the Corporation, the highest demand was registered in September with 403 megawatts and in mid-December the figure decreased to 300 megawatts. In total , 1,658 energy-saving air conditioning units and 1,767 refrigerators and refrigerators were replaced and 116,589 saving bulbs were installed, all this was applied to both the commercial and residential sectors.
