International. Danfoss held Sustainable Heating and Cooling Week at its Nordborg headquarters, an event that brought together experts from around the world to strengthen collaboration between science, industry and governments in the decarbonization of the cold chain, buildings and industry.
The day began with the Symposium on Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps, which was attended by nearly 100 attendees from 28 countries and five continents. During the symposium, participants explored practical applications of sustainable technologies through site visits, lectures and technology dialogue sessions. Danfoss highlighted, among other achievements, the carbon neutrality of its headquarters, achieved in 2022.
Subsequently, the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps Technical Options Committee (RTOC) – an advisory body to the Montreal Protocol – held its annual meeting at Danfoss facilities. For three days, around 40 international experts worked on updating the RTOC Assessment Report, a document that advises signatory countries on the best technologies and solutions available to mitigate climate change. The Montreal Protocol and its Kigali Amendment are recognized as key instruments in reducing the global temperature increase by up to 0.5°C by 2100.
"Sustainable heating and cooling are vital to building a resilient society. They improve public health, support sustainable economic development, and contribute to a better quality of life for all. In addition, they are a good commercial option. Our headquarters is a perfect example. With carbon neutrality, we achieve significant cost savings and increased operational efficiency; all with easily accessible technology and payback terms typically less than 3 years," said Kristian Strand, President of Danfoss Climate Solutions.
Andrea Voigt, Global Vice President of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Danfoss Climate Solutions, underlined the relevance of the progress made: "The work of the RTOC is crucial in advising global players on the best available technologies and solutions. The progress made during this week underscored the spirit of collaboration and dedication of the world's leading experts in advancing sustainable heating and cooling."
