United States. During the AHR Expo Innovation Awards ceremony, Danfoss' compressor, the Turbocor VTT Series, was selected as the 2015 Product of the Year winner. This product was chosen from among the Innovation Award winners in 10 HVAC/R product categories.
Clay Stevens, president of the International Exposition Co., which produces and manages the AHR Expo, kicked off the awards ceremony by noting the expo's long history and showed a photo of the 1934 series, when it was known as ASHRAE ASHVE, the American Society of Heating and Ventilation Engineers.
Tom Phoenix, president of ASHRAE, and Ed Purvis, representing the Institute of Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (AHRI), joined in the presentation of the awards. Purvis commented that the AHRI motto, "We Make Life Better," sums up what this is all about. "We continue to advance technology."
The Innovation Awards program was designed to recognize the most innovative and useful products among the thousands on display at the AHR Expo. Entries submitted by exhibitors each year are judged on the basis of innovative design, application, market impact, and the value of the HVAC/R industry.
The Danfoss compressor, intended for air conditioning applications or a commercial process that require a high-efficiency cooling solution, qualified to compete for the top prize by taking top honors in the Green Building category.
