International. Schneider Electric announced that its energy efficiency solutions based on the EcoStruxure architecture will now integrate IBM's intelligent building management systems.
Worldwide, buildings are the largest consumers of energy, "the main objective of this alliance is that the intelligent management of energy in buildings is a reality," said Eduardo Alexander, vice president of Buildings at Schneider Electric for Mexico and Central America.
It is currently possible to reduce energy consumption by up to 30%, but "the vast majority of building owners and operators do not have the necessary tools to properly manage and analyze energy use in their facilities," Alexander said.
IBM will integrate with the EcoStruxure architecture, using information about energy behavior to identify those areas where it is wasted due to the operation of inefficient equipment.
