The Concourse J terminal at Miami International Airport (MTI) has been equipped with a selection of insulated pipes that withstand the humid climate of this city.The condensate pipe serves 52 air treatments in the new terminal and provides the necessary performance required by the ITN.
One of the key factors that was taken into account for the choice of this system was the humidity that occurs in summer with a range of 85 to 100% during the cooling season, which condenses on any cold surface.
Paul Milton, project manager with Smith/Unitherm (insulation contractor), explained that the ap Armaflex pipe insulation is a moisture-impermeable closed-cell foam structure, with the water absorption property of less than 0.2%. Additionally, the hangers of the insulation system support the weight of the pipes and distribute the weight and avoid compression of the thickness.
