USA USA Last December, U.S. shipments of central air conditioning systems and air heat pumps totaled 238,160 equipment, equivalent to 28% less than the same month of the previous year, and less than 9% in relation to all of 2007. In December, 16% fewer heat pumps were sold than in the same month of 2007.The decreases in sales of furnaces for room heating were 19%, those of hot air furnaces of 28%, and those of fuel furnaces of 29%. Electric water heaters for residences were down 25% in the month and 9% in the year, as were commercial gas heaters, with minus 29% in the month, and electric ones, with -22%. However, the annual drop for these teams was only 1% and 2%, respectively.
On the contrary, cast iron boilers increased sales by 16% in the fourth quarter, with a clear trend marked by a 6% increase in gas boilers and a 28% drop in fuel boilers.
