According to the important Mexican newspaper El Universal, Mexico's industrial production has fallen by 5.4%, as a result of contractions in the manufacturing, mining and construction sectors. The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) said that the slowdown in the Mexican industrial sector in November was the most pronounced in 2008, after seven months of consecutive losses. The manufacturing sector decreased by 6.2%, construction, on the other hand, registered a fall of 5.1%, while mining activity decreased by 4.2%, mainly due to the reduction in oil production.
Mexico is not the only country in Latin America that is suffering the effects of the recession, in Chile President Michelle Bachellet enacted the laws that are part of the package of measures to encourage the economy of that country, one of them is access to tax benefits.
