The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute-AHRI, along with nine other organizations, has formed a consortium in response to a request from the U.S. Department of Energy for advice on issues related to the high performance of buildings. The High Performance Green Commercial Building Consortium (HPCGBP) partners with leading organizations in all aspects of the construction community to provide guidance and technical expertise on key sustainability issues to the Department of Energy's Building Technologies program. "As solution providers, our members, who are manufacturers of both commercial and residential heating and cooling systems, can provide critical technical direction for the development of high-performance buildings that can help the nation achieve its energy and environmental goals," said Stephen Yurek, president of AHRI.
In addition to AHRI, HPCGBP members include representatives from the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning (ASHRAE), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE), the Association of Building Owners and Managers (BOMA), the Society of Lighting Engineers of North America (IESNA), the National Association of State Energy Officers (NASEO), the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the North American Green Building Council (USGBC).
