Concern about global warming must be translated into concrete actions that help minimize its impact, as is the case of initiatives such as the sustainability and energy efficiency bill that is currently being approved in Mexico by the Senate of the Republic. In this regard, Mexican media replicated the statements of Juan Bueno Torio, senator member of the Energy Commission, who indicated that there is willingness of the different parliamentary groups to approve the energy reform.
Among the benefits that this reform brings are the expansion of the powers that the Ministry of Energy has to control the activities and development of the energy activity of Mexico, the creation of the National Commission of Energy Planning is also contemplated, which would be responsible for granting permits and applying sanctions to service providers in that sector. It must also "establish and conduct the country's energy policy, as well as monitor its compliance with priority in energy security and diversification, energy saving and environmental protection."
Another of the measures approved was the Energy Efficiency Law, through which manufacturers of household appliances, equipment and electric motors will be obliged to improve the efficiency of energy consumption.
