Solar-powered air conditioning

In the quest to protect the environment and reduce costs, a variety of alternatives have been discovered and implemented to produce more efficient devices. Proof of the above is the new technology presented by the Spanish-Swedish company Climatewell, the company developed a system that allows to supply cold or heat using solar thermal energy, the device, Climatewell officials hope, could replace traditional air conditioning equipment thanks to the enormous energy savings that would mean by not using electricity.

Currently the system, known as CW10, can already be installed in homes, low-rise buildings, shopping centers and hospitals. The technique used consists of solar panels located on the roof of the buildings which store energy and feed the air conditioning equipment.

In addition to the economic savings that the use of this system means, company spokespersons point out that the importance of using alternative technologies, specifically solar, lies in the fact that the sun is able to provide the energy corresponding to the current oil reserves in just 25 days; In addition to the above, the low levels of pollution of the system operated by solar energy stand out, according to the manufacturing company CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 15 tons per house per year.

Solar thermal energy is based on the use of the sun to produce heat, which can be used for different purposes, including the production of electrical energy, in the device designed by the Spanish-Swedish company solar energy heats the water that reaches the machine and from there can come out in the form of air conditioning.

The CW10 can operate in three modes - charging, heating and cooling - the first stores energy by drying lithium chloride, however,  the equipment can recharge energy while fulfilling its heating or cooling function, it is also possible for the system to be used to heat the water.

The company chose Spain as the first market to implement the system. Specifically, the firm is building a production plant in Ólvega (Soria) in which it has invested 6.5 million euros. The factory, which will occupy an area of 2,700 square meters, will produce about 3,000 devices of this type.
