Repair or replace? Preferences in AC

USA. A recent industry survey revealed several consumer preferences for AC systems in the U.S. market, according to a survey published on The News portal. Among them, the criteria for replacement or repair of equipment. Thus, 52% of the participants would replace their systems if the repair cost reached US $ 1,500, 78% would do so if that cost reached US $ 3,000 and 88% would change if the repair of their equipment reached US $ 5,000. From 601 telephone surveys, 409 to owners of central AC systems, it emerged that the perception about manufacturers was either very favorable or somewhat favorable among 94% of respondents with AC equipment. In contrast, there is a lack of awareness of the importance of energy efficiency certifications, with 55% reporting on efficiency standards set by the federal government and 69% in favor of such a practice. The decision to repair or replace equipment depended on cost factors, age and functionality of the old system, efficiency and possibility of further savings, technician recommendations, brands, costs and reliability of the system. However, only 52% of those who replaced their equipment noticed a difference in their electricity bills after installation. This is because 43% of users admitted to adjusting the thermostat by themselves during the day to feel more comfortable, and 52% said to do it also at night.
