United States. FFT (Future Fibre Technologies) has signed an agreement with Siemens Building Technologies, as the latter plan to integrate Secure Pipe technology with Siemens' intelligent video solution, Siveillance TM. Segure Pipe, FFT's new product, is a laser-based fiber optic sensor system that detects manipulation, excavation, engraving or any other unwanted activity near oil pipelines, gas pipelines, pumping stations and other critical facilities.FFT is a company that develops, manufactures and markets technologically advanced optical fiber for security systems. Since 1994 it is established in Melbourne Australia, and distributes security systems worldwide.
Siemens selected Secure Pipe to work hand in hand with its systems, SiveillanceTM and SiteIQTM with the purpose of improving SCADA, which is Siemens' system for monitoring, controlling and acquiring component data remotely. SCADA allows applications to be hundreds of kilometers away and can still be managed and monitored from anywhere in the world.
According to Bill Evenson, FFT's vice president for the Americas, this partnership benefits both companies, as pipeline and gas pipeline protection represents an incredible opportunity, as Secure Pipe is truly the only intrusion detection and rights-of-way solution available. But this solution will improve when merged with, SiveillanceTM SiteIQTM
"We are certainly pleased that Siemens has included us in their offering," adds Evenson. "We see significant opportunities on the global stage to work with them, as this will further increase our market share. Siemens' level of commitment to merging these two fields has proven, that it will be an unprecedented technology."
