United States. The U.S. Green Building Council The U.S. Navy recognized Johnson Controls with LEED Platinum certification, the highest category of this award, for the application of its own energy-efficient technology in the four buildings of its corporate campus in Glendale.Hundreds of wireless controllers and sensors across campus detect fluctuations in power consumption and the company's building management platform makes adjustments automatically. Thanks to this system, energy consumption was reduced by 21% and carbon dioxide emissions decreased by 827 thousand pounds annually by the installation of solar panels on the roofs of buildings.
"As a company that has been in the energy efficiency business for 125 years, we believe it is important to set an example and demonstrate the benefits of incorporating the latest green technologies, including ours in a multi-building environment," said Stephen A. Roell, president and CEO of Johnson Controls, who also expressed satisfaction with the recognition received and hopes that "others will join the initiative to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in their properties, for one or more buildings".
