Latin America. Samsung Electronics announced the acquisition of FläktGroup, a global provider of HVAC solutions, for approximately $1.62 billion, in a transaction that strengthens its expansion strategy in this market, especially in the data center cooling segment.
The deal was signed with European investment firm Triton, which owns FläktGroup, and the transaction is expected to close within 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
With this acquisition, Samsung consolidates its commitment to position itself as one of the global leaders in the HVAC sector, an industry that shows accelerated growth driven by the demand for energy-efficient solutions and environmental control in critical spaces.
FläktGroup: century-old experience and innovation in air conditioning
Founded in Germany and with more than a century of experience, FläktGroup has established itself as a reliable supplier of HVAC systems for highly demanding sectors such as data centers, hospitals, airports, museums, and large industrial facilities. The company has stood out for its performance, reliability and technical support, with sustained growth in the last three years.
In 2024, FläktGroup was recognized with the Cooling Innovation of the Year award at the DCS Cooling Awards, in recognition of its advanced air and liquid cooling technologies, aimed at energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction.
"We are extremely pleased that FläktGroup is now part of Samsung Electronics. FläktGroup, as a premier global HVAC specialist with more than a century of experience, has been trusted by large international customers for its technological and product innovations," commented Trevor Young, CEO of FläktGroup. "Now, with Samsung Electronics' global business base and investments, we look forward to further accelerating our growth."
Sustained growth and vision for the future
Samsung continues to bet on the HVAC business as one of its key growth drivers. In addition to this acquisition, in 2024 it formed a strategic alliance with Lennox International to strengthen its presence in the North American market.
The company also plans to integrate its building automation (b.IoT) solutions with FläktEdge, FläktGroup's HVAC control system, in order to offer a comprehensive smart HVAC and energy management platform.
According to market projections, the applied HVAC sector will grow from $61 billion in 2024 to $99 billion in 2030, with an annual rate of 8%, while the data center cooling segment could grow at a rate of 18% per year, driven by technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, robotics and extended reality.
