Danfoss valves used in refrigeration distribution center

Mexico. Soriana, a renowned supermarket in Mexico, decided to change the use of freons as a refrigerant for an ammonia solution using Danfoss Valves in the Fresh Distribution Center (CEDIS) of Salinas Victoria, in order to continue offering healthy products in its self-service stores.

Blasquez, performed the convincing process and pushed the change of coolant from Freon to ammonia working the engineering and operating the installation process of the system, including the SVL, ICS and ICF valves of Industrial Refrigeration of Danfoss in different sizes and ports, as well as GDA ammonia detectors and VFD ́s (frequency inverters) in 6 fans of 40hp capacitors and motors of 7.5hp glycol pumps of the VLT HVAC Drive family, technologies that are more efficient, sustainable and aligned to compliance with the safety measures  that mark the standards.

The 117 Danfoss ICF valve stations used throughout the plant provide greater safety as a weldable solution (without flanges), more compact by reducing time and risk during maintenance, and with shorter installation time by considerably reducing the amount of welds against a conventional installation, (approximately 850 saving welds). 90 ICS control valves, 44 ICLX gas operated valves were also used; 1,500 valves in total and 88 GDA ammonia detectors.

With this technology, compared to its other CEDIS, Soriana has a safer, more efficient and easier to maintain installation. Product characteristics allow them to more effectively make their spare parts inventory. In addition, its staff is frequently trained by Danfoss.  In this regard, Mr. Hugo Reyes Rodríguez, Fresh Maintenance Manager Monterrey de Soriana commented that "with Danfoss solutions we improve our internal processes and at the same time the service we offer to our customers, delivering fresher and better quality products".

For his part, Mr. Martín Ramírez López, Head of Refrigeration Maintenance at Soriana said, "We are committed to customer satisfaction and for that we created the necessary infrastructure to achieve it. The CEDIS Frescos de Salinas Victoria, has state-of-the-art technology in refrigeration, which allows to keep the products at the temperature required by each of them, extending the freshness until reaching the final consumer. With Danfoss we anticipated and innovated, we had excellent advice and technical support."
