UBV COP16 – Review of the Conference on the 10th

08/12/10

Sir Nicholas Stern, Director of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and Environment Research at the London School of Economics, said that if agreements to combat climate change are not finalised, there will be more and more displacement and, consequently, more violent conflicts.

In the forum organized by Green Solutions, Carlos Murrieta Cummings, Director of Operations of PEMEX, presented the PEMEX Climate Action Plan, with which it is sought to achieve a sustainable development scheme.

Next to the climate change village, there is a Go Karts track where many hybrid cars made a presentation with the aim of demonstrating that these vehicles (hybrid and electric) are the best option for the future.

Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada, Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico commented that, "political will must be translated into concrete proposals" so that the impacts associated with the influence of the climate are less"

After 4 days of activities that lasted the Green Solutions event @COP16, there were more than 1,080 meetings between international companies, closing deals for more than 50 million dollars where more than 4,000 people participated.

Mexico's forest authorities presented their vision for the REDD+ program, a program presented by Norway and France, which financially compensates nearly 60 countries for their efforts to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases (GEF) caused by deforestation and forest degradation.
