Weston estrena dos nuevos proyectos de CO2

Colombia. Weston announced the achievement of two new commercial refrigeration projects using CO2 as a refrigerant and recently carried out in Colombia. With these projects, the company has manufactured and installed the equipment for 16 refrigeration systems in different supermarket chains in this country.

The two recent projects are for supermarket chains located in the cities of Bogotá and Villavicencio. "The equipment is already installed. On November 26 we started equipment in Bogotá, they correspond to retrofit projects, in which systems that worked with R-22 and R-404 are replaced, the complete cooling system was installed, which includes a transcritical type rack, one of them with parallel compressor, pipe networks, refrigerated cabinets for exhibition and evaporators for cold rooms, " commented Lorena Fernandez, Marketing Coordinator at Weston.

The brand made all the engineering for the project, manufacture of refrigerated cabinets and evaporators, the installation and door in operation, the rack was manufactured in alliance with the German company Teko GmbH

On the objectives of these systems and the cooling capacity, Lorena explained that "the fundamental purpose is to carry out a technological replacement where more efficient and environmentally friendly technologies are used, in this case we use a natural refrigerant CO2 (R-744), which allows to increase the reliability of the cold network and reduce operating costs. Capacities range from 10 to 40 KW at low temperature and 100 to 250 KW at medium temperature."

Weston highlighted the benefits of using this natural refrigerant, both for the environment and for warehouses, which are looking for more sustainable and efficient alternatives:
• By obtaining CO2 from the environment for use in refrigeration systems, co2 already in the atmosphere is being naturally recycled.
• The refrigerant is non-flammable, has low toxicity and minimal impact on the ozone layer
• Equipment with CO2 requires smaller compressors than traditional systems.
• There is a high performance and depending on the ambient temperature there can be significant energy savings.
