Smart refrigeration in supermarket

An Argentine network of stores adheres to its systems to the use of electronic expansion valves and remote monitoring to ensure greater energy efficiency.

by Full Gauge Controls

The consumption with electrical energy is among the main costs for various sectors of the economy, and in the case of the supermarket it is no different. Therefore, implementing intelligent cooling systems, which aim at greater energy efficiency, is vital for the segment.

And if all this is allied with the benefits obtained with the use of remote monitoring tools, the results can be even more positive. An example is the Argentine network JK. Kilgelmann, which has ten stores around the country.

Since May 2018, the company has Full Gauge Controls equipment in two of its premises, connected to the Sitrad Pro (brand monitoring software), and with that they seek a saving of up to 30% in electrical energy.

The company Prono Ingeniería, from Santa Fe, was responsible for the implementation of the project. "We installed a cold plant for medium temperature, equipped with 3 (three) Copeland discus semi-hermetic compressors of 15HP each, one of them being digital with the possibility of varying its capacity from 10% to 100%, in addition VX-950 plus electronic valves were installed in all chamber evaporators and displays, giving a total of 21 kits (valve, Multi-FG interface, sensors and transducers) and the TCP-485 converter, used for communication with Sitrad Pro software, "says Mauro Prono, vice-president of the company.

The instruments are responsible for temperature control in chambers, vertical displays and medium temperature counters for handling beef, fruits, vegetables, dairy, cold cuts and chickens. The technical team of Prono Ingeniería is in charge of monitoring and controlling the data generated by the tool. "The alarm notifications that Sitrad Pro provides are informed and attended directly by our service area, which has a 24-hour system to address any inconvenience," he says. According to Mauro Prono, through the Sitrad it was possible to program different operating routines, for example, for the recovery of oil in the cold plant.

System accessibility
Accessibility to this type of system is another positive point. The download of the software can be done for free on the website www.sitrad.com.br/es and there is no fee for use. To access the information you only need a device (tablet, computer or cell phone) connected to the Internet.

As for the electronic expansion valve, in addition to the considerable reduction in energy consumption, its use also becomes advantageous because it entails fewer costs arising from adjustments in the system and even less downtime. With this, it is possible to ensure that the benefits of this type of system are accessible to an increasing number of enterprises seeking a more connected and efficient operation.

Satisfied customer
"The client from the beginning accepted our proposal, today with almost 8 months of use, he is pleasantly surprised by the energy savings that this installation generates, regardless of this the management of the installation via remote is what he likes the most. The customer is more than satisfied and is currently analyzing modifying the existing facilities in its other branches," concluded Mauro Prono.
