Danfoss participated in the presentation of a new report on cooling

United States. Danfoss announced its support in launching a new chilling report Chilling Prospects: Providing Sustainable Cooling for All presented last July by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) during the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in New York.

The first report to quantify the growing risks and assess the opportunities of the global cooling challenge was developed with contributions from the Global Panel on Access to Cooling, where Danfoss Cooling President Jürgen Fischer represents the voice of the industry.

The report's findings include the industry's important role in solving the growing demand for cooling in a sustainable way, thinking more holistically about heating and cooling and deploying the most efficient existing technology and developing new and innovative solutions for the most vulnerable.

"The industry is ready for sustainable cooling. Technology with low energy consumption and low global warming potential is currently available and must be implemented worldwide. We are therefore pleased to help shed light on the importance of global access to sustainable refrigeration. Through continuous investment in innovation, best-in-class technology can help solve some of the world's biggest problems starting today," said Jürgen Fischer, President of Danfoss Cooling and industry representative on the Cooling for All global panel.

Cooling is an essential necessity in everyone's modern daily life. In an increasingly warm world, the impact of not having access to modern refrigeration solutions is profound. Implementing the most efficient and best-in-class technology brings enormous environmental and socio-economic benefits, responding to the growing demand for cooling and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, creating sustainable and efficient cold chains can reduce food loss and keep vital medicine stored safely.

The new report "Chilling Prospects: Providing Sustainable Cooling for All", published by sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and the Kigali Refrigeration Efficiency Programme (K-CEP), summarises recommendations on how to increase access to affordable and sustainable cooling solutions around the world.

Danfoss has contributed directly to the report with technological know-how. Industry has an important role in sharing knowledge on how to build a vision for a sustainable future with the best technologies available. Danfoss has joined industry colleagues and world leaders at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in New York to discuss the report and is fully committed to accelerating energy efficiency as a way to provide cooling access for all. The main objective is to improve the global adoption of efficient and sustainable cold chains to keep food fresh, safe but above all, to preserve medicines and vaccines.

Danfoss is also actively raising awareness of the need to expand energy efficiency policies and measures, such as minimum energy performance standards and labelling, to ensure the use of the best available technology.

The role of business is crucial in solving the world's cooling challenge, says Rachel Kyte, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All: "In a world facing a continuous rise in temperatures, access to refrigeration is no luxury: it is essential for everyday life. To secure cold supply chains for fresh produce, safe storage of life-saving vaccines, safe work and housing conditions, we need continued leadership from industry and businesses in many sectors. Companies that prioritize energy efficiency and focus on clean technologies will not only reap rewards, but also help us achieve cooling for everyone and make sure we don't leave anyone behind."
