Grupo Éxito renewed chillers and other technologies to achieve energy efficiency in Ibagué warehouse

Éxito Wow Ibagué

Colombia. El Éxito Wow in Ibagué, technological renewal of its chillers of ice water and installed the GY Solar Aurora park, a solution that takes advantage of solar energy and 'retrofit' to its cooling systems, thus achieving a saving of 55% of its energy consumption, to a reduction of 1 274 TONS / eq of CO2.

According to Greenyellowen this "becomes the first project that combines all our services in a comprehensive commitment to energy sustainability in the retail sector".

The accompaniment to Éxito Wow Ibagué, one of Grupo Éxito's chain stores, began in 2015 with energy efficiency strategies that generated savings of 21.2%, taking into account the reference consumption prior to the first interventions of Greenyellowen. However, the warehouse wanted to enter the 'Full Included' project, so it had a technological renovation of its ice water chillers.

With this intervention, a saving of 55% of its energy consumption was achieved with respect to the previous technology. "The air conditioning system also runs largely on clean energy supplied through our GY Solar Aurora park."

Additionally, as of 2022, and as part of the Eco-efficient Energy Services solution, the 'retrofit' of the refrigeration systems was carried out to achieve their transition to natural refrigerants with transcritical CO2 and self-contained refrigerators with propane natural gas. From this change the reduction of 1 274 TON/eq of CO2 was obtained.

In addition, solar self-generation projects were installed with carports, which allow taking advantage of the infrastructure of the warehouse parking lots, to supply 35% of its energy consumption, obtaining a reduction in its rates and positioning its green seal.

In this sense, Greenyellowen indicated that "these interventions allow our client to stop emitting more than 2,100 tons of CO2 e.q. per year, which represents 8% of the emission reduction of the entire 'Full included' project, which to date is more than 26,200 tons of CO2 eq".

Finally, the installation company assured that its premise is "to offer our customers different solutions that allow us to create an environmentally and energetically sustainable ecosystem that translates into economic and environmental benefits for our customers, thus facilitating the country's energy transition".
