Carrier introduced EcoBlue technology in its WeatherExpert roof units

Carrier EcoBlueInternational. Carrier announced that its WeatherExpert line of rooftop units now includes the 48JC gas/electric and 50JC electric/electric variable speed models designed to vary cooling capacity up to 25% and up to 105% of normal capacity.

The units feature SEER ratings up to 20.0 and feature innovative EcoBlue TM technology.

The 48/50 JC units are the product of extensive research and development designed to harness the power of variable speed technology to achieve the features and benefits of the WeatherExpert line. They are available in three-phase voltage and come in sizes of 3, 4 and 5 tons. In addition, these new models have the industry's smallest roof footprint and lightest weight for this type of equipment, improving their ideal fit for both new construction and replacement work.

The most notable of the many features of EcoBlue technology is the unique beltless direct drive vane axial fan system, an industry first for roof units when introduced in 2018. This patented technology replaces traditional forward-bending belts, pulleys and fans with a simpler, more compact design, all with 75% fewer moving parts. The high-density composite blade fan of the outdoor ventilation system is also an exclusive design. Both fans are dynamically balanced for quieter operation.

Other technological advancements that set these units apart include the intelligent, intuitive, and integrated SystemVu ™ controls and coil technology that uses round tubes, plate fin designs, augmented manufacturing options, and a tool-free filter access door.

"We are pleased to announce the launch of the efficient variable-speed WeatherExpert line that offers customers precise control of comfort in a building," said J.B. Spillane, managing director, North America Light Commercial HVAC, Carrier. "Along with our EcoBlue technology and impressive weight advantages, the 48/50 JC models will provide great value for building owners looking for an efficient HVAC solution in replacement and new construction applications."

The WeatherExpert 48/50 JC units also feature an optional patented Humidi-MiZer® adaptive dehumidification system that provides additional dehumidification control and standard SystemVu ™ controls, delivering the benefits of a large text display, fast-status LEDs, smarter diagnostics through time information, and integrated i-Vu®, CCN, and BACnet® capabilities.
