Schneider Electric Recognized by Bloomberg Gender Equality Index

International. Schneider Electric received two awards for its commitment and progress towards gender equality and inclusion across the group, being honored as one of 230 companies included in the 2019 Bloomberg Gender Equality Index (GEI), that singles out companies for their initiatives that can help create safety and inclusion in the workplace.

"Schneider Electric's commitment is to provide equal opportunity to everyone, worldwide and to ensure that all of our employees feel valued and confident so they can contribute to the fullest of their potential," said Olivier Blum, chief human resources officer and vice president of Schneider Electric. "Our inclusion in Bloomberg's GHG demonstrates our strong performance in Diversity and Inclusion, both globally and nationally."

For the second year in a row, Schneider Electric was ranked in Bloomberg's GHG, created in 2016 to provide managers and investors with comparative information on the gender equality performance of the world's largest financial services companies; by 2018 the GHG was extended to all sectors. This year, Schneider Electric is one of 230 global companies and one of eight in the industrial sector to be recognized by this index.

Schneider Electric scored highly on management team engagement, gender equality policies and community responsibility. This strong performance reflects the company's numerous initiatives to drive positive change and monitor its progress. Both the implementation of the global Family Leave policy and the application of the Equitable Remuneration scheme are part of Schneider's Sustainability Plan and function as a thermometer to measure the company's sustainability performance and development. By the end of 2018, more than 50 countries have implemented the Family Leave policy and about 90 percent of the group's employees are covered by the Equitable Remuneration scheme.

"We applaud Schneider Electric and the other 229 firms recognized by the index for their actions to measure gender equality," said Peter T. Grauer, president of Bloomberg and founding president of the U.S. 30% Club. "Schneider Electric's inclusion in GHG is a strong indicator for employees, investors and industry colleagues as it is leading by example to advance efforts to create truly inclusive workspaces."

At the end of 2018, the company recorded that 43 percent of the company's 9,300 employees are women, who in turn hold 17 percent of management and senior management positions, while 28 percent of managerial positions. Likewise, Schneider Electric Mexico adds another year of the creation of its local version of WISE (Women in Schneider Electric), a network of employees dedicated to generating initiatives to meet the needs of equitable work and strengthen the culture of inclusion of women at all levels of the organization. At the end of 2018, employees from eight Schneider Electric locations in Mexico City, Monterrey, Tijuana, Reynosa and Tlaxcala are actively participating as members of the network.
