During his childhood, Ernesto was characterized by his enormous curiosity and his affinity with numbers; he disarmed everything in his path and tried to put it back together, although as you can understand, he was not doing so well in this part.
Being in the university, thanks to his enormous curiosity, he was possessed of formidable facilities to learn, as he says, "curiosity is the daughter of ignorance, but it is the mother of knowledge", in such a way, that he was quickly an assistant in the laboratory of thermal and hydraulic machines, where thank God, he could assemble and disassemble equipment and engines at ease.
Along this path, Ernesto also approached teaching, since he could guide other students by teaching them the principles of operation, the parts and ways of doing tests to obtain results of efficiencies and operating behaviors of the machinery.
This engineer found himself at that time with his vocation for teaching, and at the end of his studies he enlisted in a competition to fill a vacancy of professor in the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of his Alma Mater. He was the winner and for 25 years uninterruptedly taught fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration and air conditioning. While teaching this last course, he fell in love with the "cold".
Parallel to this work and making good use of his time, he taught in some other public and private universities, as well as in all the armed institutes of Peru; in the same way, the engineer at this time visited factories, taught courses in companies that made food products, was interested in new technologies, read magazines, in short, he was a man quite passionate about his work, an individual with a thirst for knowledge; such is the case that he became a member of the ASHRAE "to receive even more information".
Good companies
In the laps of fate and in his eternal flutter in the CVAC-R world, he met Nicolo Giaimo, owner of a company that sold equipment and spare parts for refrigeration. And one day, he proposed to work with him; after some conversations and as playing Ernesto began to work at COLD IMPORT S.A, in 1980, and so, continues to this day, he has been with the company for 27 years, now having the position of Manager of the Engineering Division.
This company was initially only dedicated to refrigeration, but it was growing and Ernesto progressing professionally. "I put a lot of effort into it because it's very pleasant to work on what you like," he recalls.
Such is his love for refrigeration, which states: "For the work I have traveled almost all of Peru because we carry out refrigeration facilities in the coast, mountains and jungle; many times I have driven 8 or 12 hours in a row to get to the construction sites, I have also traveled on impassable roads or flown in helicopters, seaplanes, overcoming one and a thousand difficulties, because we had times of terrorism (which happily disappeared). On the other hand, we had times of import restriction due to misguided government policies, which forced us to manufacture some products using a lot of imagination, but despite the difficulties we continued to grow year after year. Happily, better years came." {mospagebreak}
Approximately 12 years ago COLD IMPORT S.A ventured into the air conditioning and ventilation sector. When Ernesto Sanguinetti started working at the company he was the only engineer and now he has ten in his charge. "The good thing is that just as I teach them what little I know, they also teach me what they know and so without selfishness we have made a great team," he says.
With his co-workers he also expresses his love for teaching at all times and commits us: "I consider that the training of engineers is very important, for this they have my full support. I like that they attend talks, seminars, propitious for each of us to prepare ourselves on some topic and make an exhibition in our meeting room, so that we all learn."
The human side
But not everything is work and profession in the life of Ernesto Sanguinetti; he is currently based in Lima and lives with his wife Norma and their two daughters Norma and Karina. His wife is dedicated to the business of cosmetology and has a beauty salon, his daughter Norma is an administrator by profession, but after practicing it for a while she dedicated herself to what she had been passionate about all her life, the culinary art, so she studied for a few years and is now working as an assistant chef in restaurants. of an important hotel in Lima. Karina, on the other hand, is finishing her studies in communication sciences.
But in addition to the affection for his family, for air conditioning and refrigeration, Ernesto has another love, sports; since he was very young he has been in love with football and athletics, he has always liked to dedicate part of his free time to these disciplines, although with less and less time, given his increase in commitments. During his university days he was very dedicated to football and played what is known in Peru as fulbito, now he only practices the fulbito on weekends and endurance races of 10 or 15 km.
Sanguinetti is also a lover of music, likes to dance and read a lot, attends professional talks and others that teach him to improve life and behavior "because I think that the engineer should not only prepare himself in relation to his profession, but he should be cultured and cultivated spiritually," he said.
During his vacations, with his wife and daughters he has traveled a lot, knowing various places in Peru and sometimes in other countries. "Now that my daughters are older, it is very difficult for them to accompany us, because they already have their own obligations, but with my wife we continue to travel, because we like it and there is a lot to know," he emphasized. {mospagebreak}
What's next for Peru at CVAC-R?
During his life the engineer has learned many things that have given him a wide knowledge of the market in his region, for this reason he shared his knowledge of the current air conditioning industry in Peru.
"Peru is currently experiencing a climate in which there is a constant improvement in its economy and we are hopeful that it will be even better, because the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Peru and the United States has already been enacted, which must be implemented throughout the year. This is an agreement that will mainly benefit the export sector. because it will give preferential entry of our products to one of the markets that buys the most in the world. Therefore the refrigeration sector, which has to do with the conservation and transport of perishable products, will also benefit."
"Also, in May of this year, Lima will host the V Summit of Heads of State and Government of Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union (LAC-EU), where about 60 leaders will meet to share trade plans and discuss issues of common interest and all kinds of experiences. I think that new frontiers will be opened for the export of products, mainly to the European Union, which is another great market," Sanguinetti said.
"From what I mention, I not only foresee a promising future for Peru but for all of Latin America, because the big investors are looking at our region and have already done so in some of our countries, but something greater will come that will extend it to almost everyone," Ended.
