Spain. Through its subsidiary Refrigeración Ibérica, Carrier acquired the commercial refrigeration business of Rochina Mantenimiento, from the Comsa-Emte group.
The company that operates in Levante (Valencian Community), specializes in the implementation and maintenance of refrigeration facilities in the industry and large chains of food stores.
With this new business, the manufacturer of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems will be present in the eastern part of Spain. Rochina will operate as part of the organization in the commercial areas, execution of works and maintenance.
Spain. A 25% reduction in water and energy consumption is obtained by homes that use fiber optics and systems that control heating and lighting, as proposed by the mayor of Madrid, Spain, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón at the inauguration of a prototype of housing promoted by the Multisectoral Association of Information Technology Companies, Communications and Electronics (Asimelec)
Those responsible for the digital home prototype explained that the installations of a home represents a cost between 1.5% and 2% of the value of the house, which is recovered in four years.
For the mayor of Madrid, this digital housing project of 150 square meters presents a possible reality, an opportunity that will boost the economy and employment.
The programming of lights and blinds from anywhere, their activation with a voice command, the video connected to a TELEVISION or cell phone, a screen that informs the national and house energy demand and a sensor cuts the water in case of leakage, among other applications, are the technological solutions that this new digital home has.
Brazil-Italy. The developer of digital instruments for control and identification of temperature, humidity, time, pressure and voltage, will participate for the third time in the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort - MCE 2010, which will be held from March 23 to 27 in Milan, Italy.
In this event, in which international technological products that seek to improve the quality of life will be exhibited, focused on innovation, comfort, energy efficiency and savings, Full Gauge will exhibit its novelties in the line for solar heating.
The Microsol II power is a differential temperature controller for automation of solar heating systems that allows the management of water temperature in thermal tanks and swimming pools, in addition to better use of solar energy.
For its part, the Wall-Link, an interface that is used together with Microsol II plus and Microsol II power, allows remote access to the information and configuration of both equipment easily.
Costa Rica. From March 9 to 11, 2010, a regional conference was held proposed by CANENA, Council for the Harmonization of Electrotechnical Standards of the Nations of America, INTECO, Institute of Technical Standards of Costa Rica and BUN-CA, Central American Organization that promotes the sustainable use of natural resources and energy efficiency, in order to analyze the needs to enhance electrical security in an energy-efficient way.
This conference was attended by experts from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia and Brazil, who presented their positions and knowledge on the subject to government actors, entrepreneurs and experts from the Central and South American sector.
The topic of smart buildings and their ecological benefit was also touched, since they provide greater energy savings due to their infrastructure and their degree of automation. Rafael Yáñez, president of CANENA, said that the greatest environmental benefit of these constructions consists of a better management of the administration and control of the energies consumed for an energy-efficient operation.
Likewise, the application of IT in the administration of this type of building increases security by automating temperature management, lighting and electronic security.
Yañez affirms that Central and South America have a great opportunity in this field due to the commitments that countries acquire when signing trade agreements and international conventions with other States, since they update or establish regulatory infrastructures, which include electrical safety and energy efficiency, promoting smart constructions.
Spain. In order to reduce energy and water costs at NH Hoteles, Siemens equipped the NH Eurobuilding establishment in Madrid with new technologies that monitor guests' water and light consumption in real time.
These smart rooms will allow the evaluation of energy (air conditioning and heating) and lighting behavior, which will serve as a guideline for the creation of the ecological room model for the future. This test phase allows to measure the lighting and air conditioning preferences of the clients to adapt them in the rooms in their different periods of stay.
The spaces of the hotel were domotically conditioned with devices that optimize consumption and are associated with a specific control software: Desigo Hotel Solution, which translates the guest's expenses into carbon emissions that can be consulted from the reception.
Likewise, the chain incorporated facilities control solutions that are integrated into the Check-in systems to adapt the climatic conditions to the actual occupation of the room (blocked/not sold/sold/occupied).
The new implementation of NH Hoteles will allow to implement future developments in its establishments, to know the consumption pattern of the clients and to reward those with a responsible attitude towards the environment.
